AUGMENTATION MAMMOPLASTY
This surgery aims to enhance breast volume, correct asymmetries or malformations (such as tuberous breasts, symmastia, or absence of a mammary gland), or for gender reassignment.
Consiste en: It consists in: An incision is made in the skin at various locations, and a pocket is created under the breast. An implant is then placed in this pocket to increase the volume of the breast. This procedure can be done on an outpatient basis.
PLANES (Location of the scar)
The approach may be through an incision in the areola, axilla, at the level of the inframammary fold, or transumbilical (the latter is only used with implants that are then filled with saline solution).
The incision location will be determined by the size of the nipple areola complex (CAP). Our surgeons will explain the exact location based on your individual case. Submuscular plane: This is recommended for patients with small breasts who do not have enough glandular tissue to cover the breast implant.
SUBMUSCULAR PLANE: In cases of breast tissue ptosis (sagging) where the patient prefers to avoid breast lift scars or has sagging skin and breast tissue.
SUBGLANDULAR PLANE: In cases of breast tissue ptosis (sagging) where the patient prefers to avoid breast lift scars or has sagging skin and breast tissue.
SUBFASCIAL PLANE: The implant would be positioned below the fascia covering the pectoral muscle to avoid the risk of lateral displacement, which is why we do not use it in our practice.
DOUBLE OR DUAL PLANE: The pectoral muscle covers the upper pole of the breast implant, while the mammary gland covers the lower pole.
TYPES OF BREAST IMPLANTS
Implants can be filled with silicone gel or saline, both of which would have a silicone coating. The surface texture can be smooth or textured, and the shape can be round or anatomical (drop shape), with different projections or profiles (height of the implant). There are also polyurethane implants available.
The selection of the prosthesis type, including its shape and profile, will be based on the patient's breast appearance and her desired post-surgery look. Our surgeons will provide advice and recommend the most suitable option during the consultation.
